New Cavity Dragons iPhone/iPad Game App Helps Solve Toothbrushing Struggles
Many of us have dealt with the challenge of getting our children to brush their teeth. I recently tried out a creative new app, Cavity Dragons, designed to help parents solve the struggle over toothbrushing in 2-6 year olds.
Cavity Dragons uses an interactive video game to motivate kids to brush their teeth through an app for iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch available in the iTunes store. Children move a fireman, who shoots a hose of toothpaste to eliminate cavity dragons, fires, and food from a mouthful of teeth. Children earn virtual stickers for cleaning the teeth and can save the stickers to their device’s photo album. Other pages of the game feature brushing the teeth with a fireman on a skateboard toothbrush, assembling puzzle teeth, and decorating a fire station.
I just met last week with Lisa Danielpour of Gooselings.com and I was really impressed with their product. Sisters and mompreneurs Lisa Danielpour and Vicky Keston co-founded Gooseling to develop apps to teach social and life skills with video games, which engage children at a higher level than the typical story book approach. Their children, ages 19 months to 19 years old, were active participants in game development, from game design to testing. I love that it was a family affair!
