How To Help Your Kids Help You: The Home Stretch

I took a big break from posting about our Passover/Spring Cleaning because our new Parenting Simply movie was ready to be launched.
If you have watched, there is one point in the video where it says:

“When you look at her messy room…appreciate her creativity..

To be honest, that is one thing that I have tried but  have not been able to do. When I see a messy room, I cannot appreciate anything about anybody. I just want to yell, “How can you live in such a pigsty?”, “Do you not see this mess?” “Seriously? Seriously!?”

(“Seriously?”, is something the kids these days are saying. For example, my husband acquired this new rain hat which is just awful. He put it on to take a walk. My son saw him and said, “Seriously” and my husband answered “Seriously”, which is I think what you are supposed to answer.)

I wanted to come clean and let you know that I can’t always follow my own advice. But that does mean that you shouldn’t. If you can appreciate your child’s creativity when looking at her messy room, go for it.

Here is an update of what cleaning has been done:

My older son has finally cleaned his room!!!!!!!!I am not sure what happened but I saw him disappear into his room with paper towels and a shpritz bottle. When he came out, he told me he was done. I checked over his room and it looked pretty good. Remember we want to focus on the positive.

So all bedrooms done.
Basement done.
Kitchen junk drawer done!

Wish me luck as we head down the home stretch…
