We had a great class on Wednesday night! Devorah Katz from Challahcrumbs.com joined me for our last class of our fabulous series:

Using Jewish Values To Raise Resilient, Responsible and Independent Kids

I love working with Devorah.

As I just mentioned this was the 4th and last class in our series:

Charity/Kindness: Exploring True Giving

What we learned:

Resilient people are proficient in creating strong social networks and support systems, and they do that through giving back. We discussed how to teach our kids to be givers so that they can become proficient in developing their own social networks and support systems.

We discussed:
1. Role modeling giving behavior at home first. It all starts at home.
2. Talk about the charity work that you do.
3. Notice when your kids are being kind
4. Give your talents to the community
5. Stop telling kids how special they are

Devorah then gave us some great crafts and activities to help us reinforce the principles of charity and kindness in our homes.

Devorah and I are meeting on Monday to discuss our programming for the upcoming year. Ideas and suggestions are welcome. We would love to hear from you!
