Our next Book Club is coming up soon on March, 10. We will be discussing The Five Love Languages of Children by Gary Chapman.
I have just finished reading the book, The Five Love Languages of Children by Gary Chapman.
I really enjoyed it and it definitely gave me some new ideas on how to connect with my kids and my husband. However, according to the authors, we are supposed to be focusing on the members of our family. We are supposed to figure out the love language of our spouses and kids. Herein lies the problem, I keep on getting stuck on how inept I feel in 2 of the love languages. I feel like I am not fluent in the “love languages” of Gift Giving or Acts of Service.
I feel very insecure about my gift giving abilities. I am so bad at giving gifts, I have a hard time buying gifts, certainly personalized ones, I usually just rely on giving gift cards. I am usually so overwhelmed when I shop, (I dislike shopping so much), I never think about what I can buy for my family, I just want to get out as quickly as possible. I also feel that I am always trying to buy less, to streamline, and manage my clutter. I do not want anymore stuff (i.e. gifts) in my home.
As for Acts of Service, I feel like I do so much for my family already. I am not sure how much more I can extend myself in this “love language.”
I am hoping at our Book Club meeting I can bring this up and maybe get some good suggestions and tips from people who are fluent in the “love languages” of Gift Giving and Acts of Service.
For that reason and many more I am looking forward to:
